Timothy "Desert Storm" Bradley is slated to fight Devon "The Great" Alexander on January 29, 2011. This fight is a big deal because both boxers are undefeated title holders in their divisions and both are considered to be in their prime. USA Today sets the stage for the bout nicely in Undefeated Bradley, Alexander agree: Boxing needs this bout. They are young enough to be considered boxing's new breed, but Timothy Bradley and Devon Alexander know enough about the history of their sport to realize what their Jan. 29 junior welterweight showdown in the Pontiac (Mich.) Silverdome means for boxing.
Both are undefeated and in their prime, among the top pound-for-pound fighters, and willing to fight anyone because they make a point of saying it's what's best for boxing. Bradley, 27, from Palm Springs, Calif., is 26-0 with 11 knockouts. Alexander, 23, from St. Louis, is 21-0 with 13 KOs. He's been training in Las Vegas.
If you're looking to become an expert overnight to impress all your friends on fight-night ProBoxing-fans.com has an in-depth article with a nice comparison of the two boxers' fighting styles, strengths, weaknesses and winner prediction. Physical Dimensions and Style Bradley: Built like a 140-pound Marvin Hagler. Stands a reported 5'6," but is probably a little shorter-definitely a little on the small side...Bradley overwhelms opponents with constant pressure, high punch-rate, and above average speed. Alexander: Another heavily-muscled 140-pounder...Alexander will hold small edges in height and reach. More of an outside force than Bradley, Alexander may also be the harder puncher, though not as physically strong overall as Bradley...
