The Alvin Ailey press-room blog published a cool interview of Professor Tiba Vieira of Capoeira Luanda about how he came to be a capoeirista, his experiences teaching at Alvin Ailey's dance school and insights on the art of Capoeira. A lot of people come to my class for the workout, but eventually they end up learning that it is more than just a workout - it is a culture. They learn more about music, and sometimes become more spiritual with the art form. It's not just about coming, sweating and leaving. My main goals are to make sure my students have a great time, learn about the culture of Capoeira and Brazil, meet new people and make lasting connections.
