Transparent Languages' Brazilian Portuguese blog posted a couple articles about traditions in Brazil for new years including what to wear, what to eat and drink and a bunch of traditional acts to choose from on the big day.  We're a little late for the 2010 holidays, but at least after reading these posts you'll have the 2011 holidays on lock!

For many Brazilians, what you wear, eat, drink and do at midnight or around that time, determine how your next year is going to be. I'm not usually a very superstitious person, but this year's New Year's party is going to be na minha casa, and I like to play around with these kinds of traditions.
